Thanks for giving me something to start with. I'm curious if you did find out about a better way to do this, and that's why we never got to see another post about hooking into the ArcGIS Response? I've been told that there is an official "feature enhancement" request in to ESRI to make ArcGIS Server do this natively. Maybe at version 10?
