Now that works much better with geolocation enabled. It shows me the exact point where I’m sitting in the office today.

Hi Matt.

I thought you might be interested in a project I’ve been working on:
the CityNewsGlobe.

This software is a new way of browsing international news. By focusing
on cities and highlighting places where news is increasing, this
software highlights news differently than what you might see on CNN.
The idea is to leave users with a real sense of what is happening *all
over* the world.

This is *exactly* what I’ve been tasked to do at our shop. Thanks for giving me something to start with. I’m curious if you did find out about a better way to do this, and that’s why we never got to see another post about hooking into the ArcGIS Response? I’ve been told that there is an official “feature enhancement” request in to ESRI to make ArcGIS Server do this natively. Maybe at version 10?

Perhaps this is what Arc needs – it could just throw up a funny instead of an error – “Jerry Garcia stole your parcels”?

I’ve been using twitter a fair bit recently to spam people about my new iPhone app (http://bit.ly/4xOAvE); I still surprised that an app (twitter) that throws up the ‘fail whale’ *so often* remains so popular? Perhaps it detects I’m spamming people and I get it more than others (at least once in a 15 minute spam session), or it is that nothing is lost as a result of the error?
